Gabriel O'Brien
~ Apprenticeship at Black Market Tattoo in Edmonton, Alberta. Under the tutelage of renowned artists Sean David and Conrad Plews
~Past studios; Jokers Tattoo in Calgary, Alberta's second-oldest tattoo shop, where he refined his skills in black and grey realism, establishing himself as a force to be reckoned with in the industry. Gabriel's artistic journey began in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, where his artistic talent emerged at a remarkably young age. As early as second grade, he was already selling his original pieces, demonstrating an entrepreneurial spirit that would later blossom into a successful career. His innovative approach to art was evident even then, as he used photocopiers to reproduce his drawings of ninja turtles and cars, foreshadowing his future as a visionary in the world of tattoo artistry. It was at a pivotal moment during a tattoo convention that his artistic trajectory took a dramatic turn. Witnessing the masterful Japanese tattooist Ryugen perform tebori hand-poke tattoos, Gabriel realized the profound potential for elevating tattoos to high art. Gabriel's expertise spans a wide range of styles, from his specialty in black and grey realism to neo-traditional, traditional, Japanese traditional, and script tattoos. His unique ability to infuse his tattoo work with the depth and vibrancy of his painting background sets him apart in the industry. Nature-inspired designs - be they flowers, animals, faces, or landscapes - are where Gabriel's talent truly shines, creating living, breathing works of art on skin. Now, having returned to his roots on the eastern shore with his two artistically inclined sons, Gabriel stands poised to bring his wealth of experience and passion to Sin on Skin Tattoo Studio. We can't wait to see what he can do!!! |
