Meet Kyle Leblanc and Nicole Nickerson, the power duo behind Sin on Skin Tattoo Studio for over 20 years. Kyle grew up in the small town of Yarmouth, NS, and moved to Halifax at age 18 to pursue his passion. He apprenticed for seven years and went on to work at his mentor’s studio, Skintastic Tattoo, before opening Sin on Skin in 2003. Located in the upper unit of 5259 Blowers Street, this studio is the longest-running professional studio in Halifax. Nicole, Kyle’s wife and business partner, has been there since the beginning. From client relations to marketing, bookkeeping, operations and beyond, she ensures the business runs smoothly. “With a background in retail management, it made sense for me to take on an office management role and leave the creative work to the talented artists who work here,” says Nicole. Over the years, Kyle has dabbled in a variety of other artistic endeavours including stained glass art, illustrations, painting, special effects, sculpturing, etc. but has always come back to tattooing. Aside from Kyle, there are three other independent artists at the studio, all of whom are fully trained and experienced, accepting new clients, and offering free consultations. Check out Kyle's work as well as the other amazing artists in the studio! @sinonskintattoo (Kyle), @tattoos_with_adam Kirk @supernauta_tattoo Pia @ulises_sumeriatattoo Ulises or view their full bios and more at www.sinonskin.ca. G.Fraser Fine Art Photography About Photopolis: The Halifax Festival of Photography is a city wide celebration of photography that takes place in Halifax, Nova Scotia every three years. They are a volunteer run, non-profit, community based arts organization. They invite photo-based artists, curators, galleries and alternative exhibition spaces to showcase photography work anytime during the entire month of October. October 2017 was their latest festival. Established in 1998, the Photopolis Society works collaboratively with photographers, photo-based artists and groups, from local to international and emerging to established, along with participating venues such as galleries, community organizations and coffee shops to present photography to the public for an entire month of enjoyment. Photopolis aims to feature a wide variety of photography during the festival including photojournalism, social and travel documentary, environmental, conceptual, formalism, staged photography and more. The Photopolis festival provides a unique opportunity to engage with different approaches photographers and photo-based artists take to explore and examine diverse realities, broadening our insights and perspectives. The last festival, in 2014, featured 35 photography exhibitions, over 40 events (exhibit openings, artist talks, workshops, film screenings) and a photography symposium! Over 50,000 picture views on Google maps this year. If it wasn't for our amazing clients who allow us to bring their ideas to life, we would never have hit this! So thank you Halifax, Nova Scotia. Can't wait for another year of ink-credible tattoos and people! Sept 13th 2016 Sin on Skin Tattoo Artists: Eldrick Murphy and Ryan Bradshaw, were both chosen in the NARCITY top 13 most unbelievable tattoo artists in Halifax that you must follow on Instagram! We're sad to say Ryan had to return the his home in the UK in Sept, just missing out on receiving this honor before leaving. He wanted me to say thanks to NARCITY and the wonderful clients he meet while in Canada, that made this possible for him. He still has hopes of returning in the upcoming year to finish pieces that has was unable to as well as start on a few more. He loved it here and was as disappointed as we were that his time here had to be cut short. Eldrick is still in Halifax at Sin on Skin and here to help you with your ink needs. Call, message or stop by so you can meet with him and discuss your ideas. Eldrick is a long running artist in Halifax and has an extensive client base from all over the world. One of his regulars travels all the way from the United Arab Emerites to get her ink done every year or two. So a big thank you to NARCITY for the recognition and love for our art and artists!
