Unfortunately due to a severe shoulder dislocation for Shawn, which required medical attention and a trip to the hospital, they had to be removed from the race. So Congrats on all you did accomplish on your race around Canada, and we hope to see you both back in the race again for another session soon!!!! Would you love to talk to Jenn and Shawn about their race? Check them out on Twitter for more updated info. Jenn King @SecondNatureNut or Shawn King @ExtreemKinger.
Local Halifax Talent, Jordan Hines AKA JOFO, is in the running for CBC Music SearchLight 2014.
CBC Music and CBC Radio One are looking for Canada's best new artist, and we want your help. Searchlight is a competition that connects artists with fans in their community and across the country. Vote for your favorite bands in your region and across the country. You can vote for 10 acts per region per day, to decide which acts make it to the regional finals. It's all leading to a grand prize, including $20,000 worth of music equipment from Yamaha Canada Music, a professional recording with CBC Music, and a spot on the bill with Tegan and Sara, and Spoon at the CBCMusic.ca Festival in Vancouver. Jofo hooked up with Change The Game Records and released his first album Sk8 Shoes in July of 2007. He has produced songs for Burton snowboarders and has had tracks featured in several snowboard films. He's played shows allover the US and Canada as well as places like England, France, Portugal, Japan, Germany and Austria with acts such as Cypress Hill, Lil John, NERD, Yelawolf, Too Short, Santigold, Redman, Wu-Tang Clan and Bad Brains. His upcoming sophomore album, also on CTG, Never Enough, strays a bit from the path left by Sk8 shoes and finds him focusing more on singing and bright melodies although he still has tracks with a more serious, hip-hop vibe to them. Never Enough will be a record that can be enjoyed by people of all ages, as the lyrics focus on topics everyone can relate to. UPDATE: As of May 6th Jofo was the #1 vote in Canada so he was the one YOU sent through to the finals. He's up against 3 other artists chosen by a celebrity panel. Winner announced on May 9th!!! UPDATE: Jofo wasn't chosen by CBC Music as their #1 but Canada sure did!!!! Voting him through over everyone one else, unfortunately it was the judges that chose the winner. His new 6 track album is up for download (donations only) check it out and hear why he's our #1.
